I really like this guy, and his girlfriend just broke up with him, how long should i wait?

A couple months ago i broke up with this amazing guy because i knew nothing about him! But then i realized i made a mistake and we could have made it through! But then when i tried to get him back, he was afraid i'd break up with him again. But then he started dating this other girl! I was so mad! The girl just broke up with him and i want him back! What can i do to prove to him i won't break his heart, and how long should i wait to go back after him?I really like this guy, and his girlfriend just broke up with him, how long should i wait?
