But anyways, is there a way to get on some type of antidepressants and how will it affect me? I have never been on them and I am anxious of how they will affect me. How will I feel. Will I become dependent on them? Can I not drink on them (at all) ? Am i required to go to some type of therapy with them ( this possibility has also been holding me back from even asking my doctor about it) ? Could I ask my doctor for a appropriate prescription and just deal with it like that? Will this greatly affect my sleep in ways where I would start sleeping 12 hours a day ( I have a job and I work 10.5 hours a day) ?
Sounds bad but it just long over due and I have made minimal progress. Thank you in advance and I apologize for typos and such.Need help getting on antidepressants?
I've been using antidepressants on and off for the last four years. They aren't addictive at all. You will not become dependent on them. Once you start taking them though and feel you don't need them anymore (if ever).... you can't just randomly stop.... you have to see your doctor and slowly take less and less, or else you'll get really bad withdrawal symptoms!
As far as drinking goes- you aren't supposed to drink on any antidepressant, because alcohol is a depressant and won't mix well. I am in college and drink often. Ask your doctor which one will be least effected by drinking. I know you definately shouldn't take Wellbutrin if you drink a lot, because it will put you at risk for a seizure.
Some antidepressants only help with depression, and some help with both depression and anxiety. So that important to mention to your doctor as well! No you definately are required to go to therapy. I never have, and probably won't. Mine do not make me tired, I think if anything one of the side effects is actually trouble sleeping (insomnia).... but side effects don't bother everybody.
Good Luck!Need help getting on antidepressants?
Sorry that was a mistake. No you are not requiered to go to counseling or therapy after you start taking antidepressants. Doctors may strongly reccommend it, but you definately don't have to!

Antidepressants aren't addictive to the best of my knowledge and you can still drink, but you will get drunk quicker. Wellbutrin is the only one I know of that won't kill your libido, but I am sure that there are others. And if there aren't you can take some pills to counteract the effect.
Antidepressants will make you happier and allow you to move on with your life. No antidepressant side effects are worse than being miserable all the time.
Also, antidepressants alone are often not enough to fight off depression. You need to do other things as well. Check out ';depression self help'; and ';natural cures'; at www.depressiondodging.com
