How can a guy get a girlfriend or date if he doesn't try? How is it possible if he stops looking? how? why?

What doesn't make sense to me is that when people say ';stop looking for a girl and she will come to you'; HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE!?! How can a guy get a girlfriend if he doesn't take the initiative to go out there and get a girl? C'mon, don't girls expect guys to make the first move in order to set up a date or start a relationship? Don't guys have to do the asking out? It just frustrates me because I am 20 years old and I have never dated, never had a girlfriend, and still a virgin. Man, how come every guy out there has the ability and skills to get a girlfriend without trying too hard and not being desperate? how? why was I not born with these skills? It's like they don't even have to try. Have I missed out too much? Is it too late for me to date and have a girlfriend? and for those that say it's never too late to have a girlfriend, I know people still date and have relationships 20 and older, but those are for people who had boyfriends/girlfriends before they were 20.How can a guy get a girlfriend or date if he doesn't try?
